EDpuzzle

If you have ever wondered what "flipping" your class is all about... Check this video out:

One of the main concerns many teachers ask is "how do I check they are doing the homework, especially if it is just watching a video". Good questions. Here is the answer...

EdPuzzle.

I have tried a number of similar services, but I love EDpuzzle. It is simple to use, I get great feedback on what my students are watching and can easily mark questions that I embed in the videos I post. PLUS it is free. Can't beat that. Class time is more about extending understanding, problem solving, higher order thinking and most importantly, differentiation. I can help those who need help. Coupled with a forum for questions that helps me identify areas students struggled with, I have loved using this model the last couple of years.

Check out this video overview:

Students can also use EDpuzzle on their mobile devices:

Marzano (2014) identified that over 58% of lesson time was spent interacting with new content and only 6% on cognitively complex tasks:

With this model, that balance can shift and class time becomes a whole different prospect for students and teacher.

Here are the details:

Find the almost perfect video

Lets make a lesson
If you found your video, just click "Use it" to start editing it or if you saved in "MyContent", you can always edit it later.

Just drag and drop the red marks under the time-line. You decide where the video starts and where it finishes.

Overlay
This is a great feature for foreign teachers or language teachers. Explain with your own words. You can record your voice all over the video. This is great if you want to translate content or work listening comprehension.

Audio Notes
If you do not want to record the whole video-audio, the audio-notes is an easier way to personalize your video. Select the moment you want to embed an audio-comment for your students: clarification, example, warm introduction, you name it! Just click and record.
