Microsoft Stream - upload to a channel

Making a video as part of an assessment or project is an increasingly popular way for students to be able to use some great tools on any kind of device to get creative about how they present their work.

The BIG question after all the cool creation stuff has occurred is how can the work be shared with a teacher, class and hopefully peers and the world! Video files can be massive so email is definitely out!

The solution I recommend for Office365 schools is Stream https://web.microsoftstream.com/

Stream is like your internal YouTube service where (currently) only people from inside the organisation can log in.

Using Stream you can upload a video and share it to a

  • group
  • channel or
  • individual.

Students could share the video just to their teacher, or a channel that can be created to receive the videos which is a great way to share work so that everyone can see and comment on the video.

Unlike a network drive that fills up quickly and people with access can delete files and there is no way of knowing who put the file there, Stream allows viewing of uploaded videos and staff can see who the creator was. Once a video is uploaded it can be deleted from the computer to save heaps of space and can always be downloaded later.
