Microsoft Teams - marking assignments

This is the 3rd part of a series of posts on using the assignment feature in Microsoft Teams. Previously I covered how to set up an assignment, then how to use Forms in assignments. Last part of the process is marking/grading the assignments.

The workflow here is the best part of this tool. By attaching files that are auto-distributed to students you can then go to each submission, leave comments, ink on the page if you have a compatible device, enter results on a rubric and quickly move to the next student's submission. You can also leave feedback for each student.

One of the ideas I used in the video was uploading a copy of the rubric in Excel for students to self-assess their work.

Being able to leverage the power of OneNote and assign a page for students to complete is a great feature. The page automatically becomes read-only for students when the due-date passes. Up to that time, even if students have submitted their work they can go back and resubmit then make changes before the assignment deadline.

At the conclusion you can download a simple Excel document showing the grades assigned and comments.
